This goes to show that I will answer anything asked of me, school related!
To be honest, I don't know very many of the school board members. The one I know the best, as a Board member, is Andrea Campbell. I found her to be extremely knowledgeable, hardworking, very pleasant to be around and work with. I have no doubt that she is there for the right reasons and wants to absolutely do what is right.
I taught with Beth Woelfert and found her to be exceptionally pleasant, extremely dedicated to her job, and a valued teacher who went above and beyond for her students. I knew her as a 3rd and 4th grade teacher, but I think she has taught everywhere in that elementary! I was disappointed that she missed my oldest during his 5th grade year, but happy for her reason! (maternity leave) I think having former educators on the Board is a wonderful, beneficial thing to have.
I don't know some of the current members and I don't have really an opinion one way or the other about the job they have done on the Board. I can tell you this much. You have to have a servants heart to run for a position on the school board. Most people spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars (not everybody gets donations!) to put their name out and let people know what they stand for. School boards don't have a fraction of the power that many think. Would I have voted the way that the majority did on every decision? No - and I have shared some of that in other Q&A. I don't think every decision needs to be a 7-0 vote. However I do believe that this Board has integrity and they are doing what they think is best for our corporation.
